1. Tell a session what it is about

   Major

   Beside Start there is now room to write a line or two of context — the topic, who is speaking, the product names — and to choose the glossaries you want on. Hard words come out the way you wrote them instead of being guessed. The panel stays folded until you open it.

2. See which tab is being captured

   Minor

   Pick tab audio and the popup names the tab it will listen to, with its icon. You can move to another open tab from the same row, so what gets captured is visible before you start.

3. Traditional Chinese and European Portuguese

   Both now have their own interface, written in their own vocabulary rather than converted from the simplified or Brazilian text.

1. Translate pages with your own AI key

   Major

   The extension can now translate the page you are reading with your own key from an AI provider you choose — Gemini, Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, Grok, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you enter yourself. The page goes straight from your browser to that provider on your account — it never passes through us, so there is nothing for us to meter, and it works on every plan including free. Your key stays on that device, and you can register several and switch between them. On sensitive sites and in private sessions translation still stays on your device.

1. Fix a sentence in a saved session

   Major

   Any line in a saved session — the transcript or its translation — can be edited in place. Correct a name the model misheard once, and the record keeps the correction.

2. Your glossary reaches the notes too

   Minor

   The glossary you had on during a live session now travels into the AI notes written from it, so the names and terms you set stay spelled the way you chose.

1. Turn a recording into notes

   Major

   Upload an audio file and Newey transcribes it and writes it up — the same AI note templates you get after a live session. Add the terms and background of the recording first and both the transcript and the notes follow them. The file is deleted as soon as the transcript is done.

2. The desktop app speaks 30 languages

   The macOS app's own menus and windows now come in all 30 interface languages, the same set as the web.

1. Milestone

   Speak your language — the room hears theirs

   Voice to Voice reads your captions out loud in the other language, sentence by sentence, so people can listen instead of reading a screen. You can choose a native voice model in any of 32 languages. It stays in sync with your speaking pace in real time.

2. Scheduled sessions

   Major

   Save a session setup ahead of a conference or talk — title, languages, context, and glossaries — and start it later with one click. Reserving an audience share link issues a fixed QR you can print and hand out early: people who scan it see a “starting soon” screen and connect automatically the moment you begin, and the link survives across sessions until you delete the reservation.

3. A simpler way to start

   Minor

   The start screen now asks how you will use Newey — in-person sound, content audio, or meeting interpreting — and picks the right input for you. Display options moved to the live screen: a new Interpretation display card previews captions, switches to the transcript, and opens any surface (floating window, new window, full screen) mid-session. Context and glossaries live in one card, stay editable during the session, and Smart context suggestions now drop straight into your context text.

1. The meeting interpreter now shows the meeting — and your slides

   Major

   The split interpreter view can show the call itself: turn on the meeting view to see the other side right above the captions, with an optional crop-to-content mode that hides the meeting UI. And when it's your turn to present, hit Present my screen to show one of your tabs or windows inside the view — since this is the tab you share into the call, everyone sees your material and the live interpretation together, no double screen-sharing. Drag the handle to resize the video area, resume from a pause with a single click, and keep track of terms you add mid-meeting in the refreshed toolbar.

1. Milestone

   AI notes for your sessions

   A saved session can now be written up for you: a one-page summary, meeting minutes, a business meeting record, a talk digest, an earnings-call brief, an interview digest, a news briefing, or a recap of a film or drama. Notes are written after the session ends and download as Markdown, and you can have the one-pager written automatically every time a session is saved.

2. Session records read like a script

   Minor

   Saved sessions now keep every spoken sentence paired with its translation instead of a stream of short caption lines. Open one and pick what to read: the translation with the original underneath, the original speech on its own, or the AI note — each with its own download.

3. Now on Microsoft Edge

   Major

   The Newey extension is published on Microsoft Edge Add-ons as well as the Chrome Web Store. The install button now takes you to the right store for the browser you're using, so Edge users no longer have to go through the "allow extensions from other stores" banner.

4. Fuller caption lines in more scripts

   Minor

   The floating caption window and the macOS overlay now measure the script you're actually reading before deciding where a line breaks. Hindi, Arabic, Bengali, and other non-Latin captions use the full width of the window.

1. Tab audio without a gate

   Minor

   Captioning the sound of a tab — a video, a stream, or an online meeting — used to sit behind a gate. It is gone: pick the tab source and start.

2. A guided first run for the extension

   Minor

   Installing the browser extension now opens a guided setup: sign in, pin Newey to the toolbar, then try it — 30 seconds of live captions from your own microphone in the language you choose, and page translation on its shortcut (Alt+T).

1. Sign in with Microsoft

   Major

   You can now sign in with a Microsoft account, work or personal, right alongside Google and passkeys. Newey only ever receives your email address and name.

2. Sign in with just your email

   Major

   No Google or Microsoft account? Enter your email and we'll send a one-time code — no password to create or remember. The sign-in screen now leads with email, with Google, Microsoft, and passkeys a tap away.

   Major

   An iPhone app is in preparation.    The Newey browser extension is now published on the Chrome Web Store. Install it to get live translated captions right on top of whatever is playing in your tab — including browser-based presentations like Google Slides, Canva, Pitch, and YouTube, where a separate window would get in the way.
