What counts toward my time?
Only the seconds your captions are actually live, timed on the server clock. One target language or several makes no difference to the rate, and pausing stops the meter together with the audio.
Does my audio pass through your servers?
Your live audio doesn't — your browser connects straight to the speech engine with a short-lived key it fetches from us. Turn on Voice to Voice and the translated sentence plus its synthesized audio do route through our servers on the way back, transit-only and never stored. The only session content we keep is a record you chose to save when the session ended — stored in your account, deletable anytime.
Do I have to set the language myself?
You can, but you don’t have to — Newey detects the spoken language automatically, or you can pin the input yourself when you already know what’s coming. On the output side, choose any of 60 translation languages when the session starts.
What do I need to install?
Nothing to start — the web app runs in a desktop browser, where recent Chrome, Edge, and Firefox float the caption window above every other app and Safari opens a simpler video-style window. There’s also a macOS app that keeps captions visible over fullscreen presentations, and an extension for Chrome and Edge that draws them right on the page.
Can I use it without paying?
Yes — every new account starts on the Free plan with caption time included each month, and session records and downloads are free on every plan. When you need more hours, the pricing page shows exactly what each step up adds.
How do I share captions with the room?
Turn on broadcasting — a Business plan feature — and put the QR code on screen: every phone that scans it follows the live translation with no app and no sign-in. The caption text crosses our relay in memory only and is discarded when the session ends, and if a link gets out, issuing a new code shuts the old one down on the spot.
